when one first look at this image they may think that i provably visited another country recently. (with the exception of that particular paper cup) but because of the wall and the lady in the image, for some reason it reminds me of cuba or the dr and not necessarily nyc. what is the most fascinating to me at least is that i have been meaning to photograph this lady so many times. she stands every single day at around 9 am right on the corner of 39th and 8 where she buys a bagel and coffee every day. see the rosary? blue/green string she is holding on her had? she holds that every single day... I admit I am a bit intimidated by this lady because she is so consistent standing there and it is like she adds a deja vu to may days... I took this image as i walk by right in front of here this past Friday.

A very telling portrait, that's how she got to the age she is - consistency!

one of my favorites of your portraits. the color and texture are perfect. I love how she's wearing such colorfully mismatched clothing in front of a gray wall. Her expression...how she's looking up/away with that rosary says so much about who/what she is. did you try moving her mmore to the right of the frame? Or did you have a reason for placing her smack in the center?
